- Operates at low revolutions - runs smoothly and silently.
- Guide rails consist of self supporting structures that make additional interval
fixing unecessary.
- Eliminates the need for special building and civil engineering requirments.
- Does not require a separate motor room.
- Space saving, combines comfort and very low energy consumption and
running costs.

We now include Fire Fighting and Evacuation lift specifications to EN81-72 utilising
Machine Roomless technology.
Electric Traction Lifts have a capacity of up to 2500kgs with travelling speeds
of up to 3.0 m/s and vertical travel of up to 40 floors. Because of this large capacity,
electric traction lifts are ideal for heavy duty lift systems. The machinery for
these lifts are contained in a separate plant room and they have a variety of applications
including:
- Heavy duty passenger lifts
- Heavy duty goods lifts
- Evacuation and Fire Fighting lifts

Northern Lifts have recently become the first lift installation company in Scotland
to supply, install and test a number of 8 person - 630kg machine roomless passenger
lifts in Corus bi-steel lift shafts.
The prefabricated lift shaft installation varies only slightly from a traditional
build but the main advantages are accurate dimensions of the shaft +/- only a few
millimeters, a clean wind and watertight environment allowing our engineers a trouble
free installation and ensuring any pre-finish snagging is kept to an absolute
minimum.
Project: Flatted Development, Pollockshaws Road, Glasgow
Client: Westpoint Homes, Glasgow
Architects: Ross Woods Architects, Glasgow
Where building conditions prevent normal lift shaft construction, e.g. listing
buildings, within stair wells and external positioning, a prefabricated self supporting
structure can be supplied with or without cladding panels - glass or steel.
We offer a cost efficient solution for lift installations requiring upgrading and/or
refurbishment. We undertake an initial site survey to establish the scope of works
required. Thereafter a fully detailed report including a fixed price quotation will
be provided. All refurbishing work is carried out in accordance with current legislation
requirments.
Where Local Authority Requirements demand compliance in line with the current Disability
Discriminiation Act, these EN81-70 compliant lifts will fully meet all the minimum
requirements for: wheelchair access, blind and or partially sighted and hearing
impaired needs. An all-brushed stainless steel or Formica finish Lift Car with half
mirror, 900mm door openings, diffused lighting, handrail and rubber tile floor.
